Curriculum

The Six Fold Education is the path on which the school establishes its philosophy of learning and development of every individual child.

Physical activities at Romasha International School are taken care with much fervor and passion. The physical development influences children’s behavior both directly (Games and Sports) and indirectly (attitude towards self and others). Emphasis on regular exercise and physical fitness, yoga, sports, gardening to develop their physical development are done. An ideal concept for all our young sport enthusiasts, this fold is a right arena under the supervision of a professional.

We insist on every child partaking in any form of physical activity and benefit each other as a team player or individually in an independent sport. Our aim is the development of this comprehensive programme for physical education, providing activities which incorporate and develop movement, mobility, control, health, fitness, strength, stamina, challenge and body skills.

Romasha International School believes in making practical citizens trained to face the challenges of the fast changing global environment, but with a strong moral grounding by instilling into the children positive values and culture. Children are helped to embrace right values, of rights and wrong, fortify their faculty of discrimination and of judgment to make the right choices.

As children’s second home, our institution imparts education, hones their behavioural pattern, applauds the positive and helps children analyze and curb the negative. Our children walk into life with an explicit thinking and behaviour that will remain theirs throughout life.

We nurture positive and mental values among the children through real life situations, fine arts, aptitude and logical development, dance, crafts and co–curricular activities. Children are helped to develop through five principal phases:

• Development of the power of concentration.
• Development of the capacities of expansion.
• Organization of one’s ideas.
• Thought – control.
• Development of mental silence, perfect calm and a more and more total receptivity to inspirations.

This fold completes the system of education and schooling and still continues to grow on.

Intellect and creative abilities begin with cognitive techniques: writing, reading counting or any knowledge / information derived from known information. Oriented towards development of unique thinking and creativity, this fold of education is a passageway to knowledge and success.

Through a democratic approach in the classroom we ensure the proficiency in qualities of leadership, patriotism, communication, co-operation and humanity. Working out as a team helps build a bond of trust and confidence and successfully aids in social adjustments.

The children learn this and also live life as a contributing member of the school community. We believe that by fostering this at this stage will only lead the children into making our society of tomorrow a better place to live, harmoniously.

Our spirituality or our “still place within” is fostered by the practice of yoga, good deeds, shloka, festivities, meditation, narratives, etc which leads to the development of an inner consciousness. This is not in reference to any religious practice but in the awareness of peace, love and wisdom – virtues of humanity.

We believe that education should enlighten and empower the mind and heart of the young students. We believe in nurturing the uniqueness of every child, foster learning that engages the children making them confident thinkers based on exploration, inquiry, experience and creativity.

The early years of the child in RIS spans through 3 years of Kindergarten i.e. Nursery, Lower Kindergarten (LKG), and Upper Kindergarten (UKG).

Developmentally age-appropriate activities progress through the 3 years

We use ‘Learning Through Play’ as a methodology in our Nursery and Kindergarten classes. Along with a structured approach to learning by integrating English, Math, ART, Craft, Music and movement, fine motor skills, Good habits, audio visuals, field trips and fitness.

We use child friendly ways to engage and gauge children’s understanding and progress.

At RIS the primary and secondary school curriculum is aimed at all-round development focussing on physical, intellectual, social, emotional and value-based learning experiences. Emphasis is placed on acquiring language skills, understanding of mathematical concepts, the discovery and clarity of scientific principles and appreciation of history and culture. Laboratories in areas of Science and Mathematics enable students to get hands-on experience.

Project Work enables the students to build on knowledge and acquire good habits of learning.

The curriculum is divided into scholastic areas and non-scholastic areas. While there is a balanced blend of Academics, Arts and Physical Education, there is also interdisciplinary integration. Special events like elocutions, sports, field trips, excursions, debates, quizzes and literary activities are conducted throughout the year.

Students are assessed on the basis of a continuous assessment programme. Each academic year consists of two semesters. The assessment pattern is based on speaking skills, writing skills, reading skills, listening skills, home assignments, work habits and group projects.

Values of empathy, respect, integrity and service are tied into the school program to create strong individuals.
